Learning and playing – getting experience and understanding
The use of game and various teaching material in nursery and schools is
very rare in Ethiopia. A high degree of memorizing is demanded by the
children. Practical experiences come too briefly.
Since we can only teach mental handicapped children and teenagers if we
prepare connections to practise in daily teaching, the conditions for that must
be created by us too.
In our lesson in CMCC many materials are in use which make it easier for the children to find access to the teaching contents. The teachers steer consciously the game and thirst for knowledge of the children to make new experiences possible to them.
Montessori material which dates from our own production is available in the
classes. Boards, Memories, Dominos, Jigsaw Puzzle, Wooden Bricks, Bandolinos and
further material complete the supply.
